A crowned king sits upright on a stone throne holding a sword vertical in his right hand, facing directly forward.
He faces out. Not turned, not angled, squared to whoever is in front of him. This is the most direct posture in the deck.
The sword tilts very slightly to one side. Not perfectly vertical. He has been holding it a long time and it is heavy, and that small lean is the only thing in the card that is not absolutely rigid.
His throne is carved with butterflies and with a crescent moon. Transformation and intuition, both present, both underneath him rather than in his hands.
Two birds fly in the clear sky above. The air is settled here.
He wears armour beneath his robe.
Prepared, and not currently at war.
