· The Knight Of Wands ·

MINOR ARCANA

Knight. Action. Movement before the plan.

An armoured rider on a rearing horse carries a living wand, and both of them are already going.

The horse is up on its hind legs. Not standing, not walking, mid-launch. Every other rider in the deck sits on an animal that has its feet on the ground.

His surcoat is patterned with salamanders, the creature that lives in fire and is not consumed by it. Fire is his element and he is comfortable in it.

The plume falls back from his helm. Speed is already happening.

Behind him, three pyramids in empty desert. The same pyramids the Page had his back to. This one is riding away from them at pace.

He is looking ahead and slightly up. Not at the ground he is about to cover.

- Upright -

Action. Passion. Impulse. Adventure.

The Knight of Wands upright is going, now, before the plan is finished.

Where the Page was interested and the Two of Wands was still deciding, this card is already moving. Something in your life needs the leap rather than another week of consideration, and the Knight says take it.

He is the most charismatic figure in the suit and the least reliable. Enormous energy, genuine courage, real magnetism, and no patience for detail or duration. He starts brilliantly and finishes rarely.

As a person, this is someone who arrives like weather. Exciting, generous, funny, in motion, difficult to plan around. Wonderful for a project's first month and not who you want running it in month nine.

There is travel here, often sudden. Relocation, a trip booked in a week, leaving somewhere abruptly.

The card carries a caution inside its instruction. The horse is rearing, which means it is not yet under control. Go, and understand you are choosing speed over certainty.

Move. Just know what you are trading.

- Reversed -

Recklessness. Haste. Frustration. Losing steam.

Reversed, the fire has become destructive or has gone out.

The most common reading is recklessness. Acting without thought, burning through goodwill, saying the thing in the moment, damage done at speed. Reversed, this card asks what the hurry actually served.

It can also mean frustration. All the energy and nowhere to spend it. Blocked, delayed, held up by other people, and the impatience turning inward. This version is irritable rather than dangerous.

Reversed frequently indicates something that started hot and stopped. The project abandoned, the enthusiasm exhausted, the person who was intense for a month and then went quiet.

As a person reversed, this is charm without follow through. Big promises, poor timekeeping, a pattern of leaving. The information is in the pattern rather than the apology.

There is also the reading of deliberately slowing down, and occasionally it is the right one.
